Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence

Introducing a brand-new style (to me) of hyper-real animation (it's likely computer-generated, but I can't say for sure) this movie blew me away based on prettyness alone.
It takes place after the original movie and follows Batou and "the rookie" through one of their adventures in Section 9.

One of the interesting featues of this sequel is that it is very similar to the original. The same kind of opening sequence. The same strange sequence in the middle of the movie with the same little girl singing the same song during the same kind of visual scrolling through the city that we saw in the last one.
In sense, he's telling the same kind of story.
Considering how good the original was, this isn't as bad a thing as you might expect.
Oddly enough, the backgrounds are done in this fully-detailed "hyper-real" style, and the stars of the show (and all the people) are done in the same old animation style that's been in use ever since there was animation. It looks a bit strange until you get used to it. I found my attention always on the backgrounds instead of the characters. Still, all these things made the movie more remarkable to me instead of less. It's a really different experience.
