SOOO PREEEETTY
Sumptuous scenery and costumes. Dance-like martial arts (and martial dancing!). Beautiful, beautiful women. This is probably the most visually lovely movie at the 'Fest.
Fairly standard plot for a Wu Xia martial arts epic, but that's not a complaint.
The Playboy captain of a local police force and his partner come up with a plan to catch the new leader of the Robin-Hood-like rebel group House of Flying Daggers. The playboy plans to seduce the blind daughter of the slain former leader, and have her lead him to their base of operations, or at least reveal the identity of the new leader.
Of course, various double agents and characters unexpectedly falling in love with people they shouldn't (and the love triangles that arise thereby) give the plot it's required twists and tragedy.
The weather effect that indicates the 'final battle' is tremendously well done.
Even though certain characters can't quite manage to stay dead.
