A French gangster movie about two small organized crime gangs (is there a French mafia?) in some city on the coast (of France). These 3 kids have known each other since childhood (where they had an interesting shared experience) and now continue to associate... with the same gang.
The plot tries to kick it into high gear, but it's all fairly cliche. There's nothing really new here (story-wise), and the movie was plagued with sound problems. I'm still giving it a good rating though because of a support actress. There's a small blonde girl, playing a "somewhat new to the game" assassin, and she's absolutely marvelous. Best character in the whole movie, really. The main character is almost as cool, he's a "slightly older, very experienced" assassin. The scenes with the two of them together are great because you can really see the "shared common ground and understanding" between them. The rest of the movie isn't bad, but hardly remarkable.
I shall now echo the sentiments of my colleague 13 and say that this is a fantastic film for a first time director and I'm definitely going to be watching out for further material from him.
