Another look at the Hong Kong police from the director of last year's PTU. This one is more action oriented, with large squads of tactial officers raiding a highrise apartment complex in which four heavily armed armored car robbers have holed up.
The basic idea of the film was to focus on the modern impact of high speed, ubiquitous mass media on policing. The cops spend as much time wrangling public opinion as hunting the crooks (and the crooks get some wrangling done of their own).
Acting was good, but the story wasn't as tight as it might have been. I don't understand the presence of two hitmen characters or why one of them and one of the robbers opt to trade jobs at the end. On top of that, that overarching 'camera eye' theme is mostly unconnected from the finale. There is really no final 'money shot' caught on tape by media cameras in the film.
It just seemed like an oversight to me.
