Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic

All the Penises in the Galaxy won't fill your heart

So... this is a movie about a stand up comedy routine. It's very funny, if slightly offensive. On the other hand, it's offensive to pretty much everyone equally, so at least it's not biased. And it IS very funny.

Ms. Silverman is highly adept at leading your train of thought down the garden path and then kicking you in the ditch when you least expect it. Her comedic timing and delivery are excellent. At one point I found myself physically striking myself in the head to correct a mental disconnect she'd engineered with a Swiss watchmaker's precision.

There's not really too much to be said about this movie. For the kind of people that like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they'll like. This is a well executed documentary of a comedey concert interspersed with skits and musical numbers (and, as we know, big musical numbers improve any movie).

The jokes are cramp-inducingly funny, and you could sprain your face from switching back and forth from wincing to laughing so quickly. All in all, there is a severe risk of muscle injury from this movie.
